NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.

NAMI Anoka County Sponsors Walk, Invites Members to Mental Health Event

NAMI Anoka County is excited to support the 12th Annual 5K Walk For Mental Wellness as an event sponsor, and invites everyone who supports mental wellness to attend.
This events is an event of the Mental Wellness Campaign of Anoka County. The MWCAC was formed in 2004 as part of a Mental Health Strategic Plan by Anoka County that listed one of its three priorities as public education and prevention. Over the course of the next three years, the board members for the MWCAC began to define themselves through public relations work to promote recovery from mental illness. Board members include consumers, family members, business leaders and human service professionals.
The Annual 5K Walk For Mental Wellness will take place at 10 am on June 5 at Bunker Hill Regional Park in Coon Rapids. For more information, please visit www.mwcac.org.

NAMI Minnesota’s 2021 State Conference will be held online on Saturday, Nov 13
Join us to hear from our opening keynote speaker, Elyn Saks. Saks writes extensively in the area of law and mental health, having published five books and more than fifty articles and book chapters. Her memoir, The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness, describes her struggles with schizophrenia and her managing to craft a good life for herself in the face of a dire prognosis.
This year’s closing keynote speaker, Damien Fair, is the Redleaf Endowed Director of the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain at the University of Minnesota and a professor in the Institute of Child Development at the Medical School.
The conference will feature 15 breakout sessions on a wide variety of current mental health topics.
